We have been really lucky this term in Robins to have lots of visitors from the emergency services come into school and teach us about their job. The children were really looking forward to the visits and came up with some interesting and thoughtful questions to ask them!
We started with a visit from a paramedic who showed us some basic first aid (on a gigantic teddy!) and let us look closely at his Ambulance and equipment. We even tried on some of the paramedic uniform.
We borrowed Mrs Brixey from the Year 2 class for an afternoon to teach us all about first aid in school. Now we have a much clearer picture of what to do when we hurt ourselves and we practised bandaging each other up!
Recently we had a visit from two community police officers who talked to us about their job and how they work in a team with other people in their community.
Thanks to these visitors we are becoming confident talking about what communities we belong to, who helps us in our community and how important it is to work as a team.
