| This week in Robins we have done lots of new learning. In Maths, we have been learning to tell the time to o'clock and half past. We also sequenced everyday events in the correct order such as waking up, eating breakfast, going to school. We have been learning the days of the week and months of the year and thinking about events that happen in different months. In English we have been reading a book called 'The Journey'. It is about the journey of a little red boat. We found rhyming words in the story. The story is full of interesting words, we highlighted them in the book and then thought of our own interesting words to describe the pictures from the story. We then used these words to write sentences to match the pictures in the story. We thought of some really interesting words! Please click in the link at the side so you can watch and listen to the story. In Science and Geography we have been learning about weather around the world. We watched weather forecasts for England and Australia and found out that it is currently summer in Australia!! We sorted clothes into two suitcases, one for English winter weather and one for Australian summer. Some children created their own weather forecasts for the two countries. |

Later this term we will be learning about different types of animal from around the world. As an introduction to this topic, Jungle Jonathan brought some of his animals to see us. We learnt lots of interesting facts about them and even had a change to touch and hold them!
To launch our Journeys theme, we began by learning a song about the seven continents. As we were learning the song a special parcel arrived for us, it was Teddy!! He has returned from his journey around the world! He was in a box with a passport, map and travel journal. We looked at the places he has visited. We then made our own passports and designed and made our own suitcases. We packed them with things we might need to take on a journey and wrote a list of the items in our suitcases. We finished by labeling maps with the names of the 7 continents and 5 oceans of the world.
