This week we launched our topic, 'Terrible Tewkesbury'. Here we are at the end of our scavenger hunt around the school enjoying the treasure! Riley was very excited to find the tin of cakes hidden in the secret garden: "We found the golden cakes!"
We had to work as a team to find the treasure because each clue only had a grid reference. By looking closely at the map of the school and using the key to work out the meaning of the symbols on the map, we could find where the next clue would be!
In English we have been reading stories about lost toys. Knuffle Bunny and Little Penguin Lost both have characters who lose their favourite toy. We started writing our own stories on the same theme. Jayden's story was quite dramatic. Here's an extract: "Next, the wind blew my favourite toy into the choppy sea." Lots of the children had experience of losing a toy and were able to use these in their writing.
Thank you Anais for bringing in a bird's nest and some tadpoles! We were all very excited to look closely at them and release them into the pond in the secret garden!
